History ZION PROGRESSIVE SCHOOL

History, according to Barraclough, is the ‘attempt to discover, on the basis of fragmentary evidence, the significant things about the past. The few lines below highlight some of the significant milestones in Zion Schools. Zion Nursery & Primary School was founded on Monday, 18th September 2005 with five -pupils and two teachers. Like any other newly-founded establishment, the School faced assorted teething problems. Prominent amongst which were paucity of funds and patronage, scaling of registration/recognition hurdles of the Ministry of Education and unattractive structure. The School took off in an unattractive rented apartment so that in terms of aesthetics, the structure was almost exactly nil.
After noising the establishment of Zion Nursery & Primary School around in the neighborhood and some other farther places, on 22nd September 2005, a woman came with the intention of registering her ward. As she glanced round the rusty classrooms and the naughty environment, she apparently concluded that she was in the wrong place as she unsuccessfully tried to conceal her disappointment and displeasure. She muttered something like “m-a-a-pa-da-wa†(I–will –come–back–later). She never did. This was just one of dozens of other similar cases.
However, the School had (and still has) very clear and well-articulated vision and mission. Our vision then, as now, was/is to professionally turn the academically weakest child to the strongest and the dullest brain to the sharpest. We had, and still have, the mission of initiating and promoting a radiating academic culture that cannot be called to question. By working with the right team, through unquenchable zeal, determination, dexterity, diligence and discipline, the Lord has helped Zion Nursery & Primary School to achieve all the above and lots more. Today, Zion Schools have descent, well-structured, beautiful and learning friendly environment and classrooms.
In September 2012, the College arm of the School – Zion Progressive College – was founded. The School is located at Ilero Quarters, off NTA, Ado Ekiti. The College is accredited by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and recognised by the National Examinations Council (NECO) hence Zion Progressive College participates in all examinations conducted by these Examinations Bodies. What is more, year in year out, our students graduate with excellent results. In terms of teaching and learning, Zion Progressive College remains a shining light, pace setter and beacon of hope. Both Schools have an impressive array of qualified, diligent and proficient teachers. It is therefore not surprising that Zion Schools have won many academic laurels while her alumni are doing very well in their different fields of endeavours. The future of Zion Schools is as bright as cloudless sunny sky. With our academic track record, the Management of Zion Schools constantly repositions the Schools for more academic laurels in the years ahead. We will continue to give priority to teaching and learning. We will continue to instill moral discipline into our pupils. We will continue to recruit, retain, train, retrain and motivate the best possible staff. We will continue to formulate policies that will make Zion Schools primus inter pares. Indeed, we will continue to shun out academically sound and morally upright pupils and students that will make Zion Schools the destination for everyone in search of acquisition of untainted rigorous academic training and unquestionable moral upbringing.
With our ‘home away from home’ and well-maintained boarding section, pupils and students are treated to a descent ‘full school life’. Your own ward could join us today and become part of our sustained success story.
